Naturally . . . Save The Queen!
The greens of endless meadows and luxuriant woodlands and forests; the white, lavender, fuchsia and red of flowers swaying in hot summer breezes. The intense orange of the sunset and the delicate pink of dawn; the burnt colours of the earth; blue that nuances into lighter shades and to turquoise, mimicking the sky’s ‘dive’ into the sea . . .
This is the palette for the new Spring/Summer 2018 collection: colours appropriated by Save the Queeen! from Nature, Mother and Queen of all things – and supreme icon of all of the new season’s proposals.
But Save The Queen!’s tribute to Nature is multifaceted, going beyond the colours: the cuts and the lengths chosen for this collection also propose a ‘natural’ or – we might say – ‘free-spirited’ mode of dress, with reworked sweatshirts, wide skirts, ample trousers and a profusion of long dresses in gypsy- and hippie-chic moods. Deliberate, arrant references to the Seventies and the world of the flower children – that is, a decade of history and costume when, for a moment, style stepped aside to leave room for living one’s style.
