What are the key pieces every woman should have in her work wardrobe?
1. You can never go wrong with a crisp white shirt. It has earned its fashion status as a timeless classic for a reason, and you should never underestimate the importance of beautiful basics.
2. A pinafore is great for layering. The suedette version in my new collection, pictured, is bang on trend; it has amazing texture and the A-line silhouette is great for all the women out there who love to show off their shape and form, but don’t want to work too hard with their clothes.
3. Co-ordinates are also a fantastic option for the office as they can be mixed and matched separately, or worn together for a contemporary and polished look.
4. A fantastic tailored trouser is another essential for your workwear wardrobe, and a striped top will always act as a great go-to piece when you are in a rush and stuck for something to wear.

If we only buy one thing for Autumn, what should it be?
Something suede. Although this trend found its roots on the Summer catwalks, it is definitely not going anywhere for Autumn/Winter. Forget the hippy-inspired fringed styles of the Summer and aim for a more chic and sophisticated look. It is a good idea to focus on one key piece that can be worn in multiple ways or, if you are unsure how to wear the trend, you can always test the waters with a statement accessory.
We like print fabrics but we’re not sure how to wear them – any advice?
There are hundreds of different ways that you can wear prints! It is not something girls should be scared of – no matter what their shape or size. If you are slightly nervous about wearing them, then a great way to try the trend is to stick to one statement piece per outfit. For example, you could balance out a printed top with bottoms in a block colour. Curvy girls should go for ditsy prints, while those with a smaller frame can opt for larger patterns if they want to give the impression of a fuller figure.

Where did the inspiration for the new Tu collection come from?
When I am designing, I tend to look back at vintage fashion for inspiration. For this range I focused specifically on the 1960s. This era was such an incredible decade of change, and also very important for the empowerment of women. I looked in detail at those wonderful old B movies and Hitchcock films; the women in them were so impeccably dressed, super strong and slightly mysterious – which is a quality I love.
What is your favourite piece from the collection?
It is always hard to choose a favourite, but I think in this collection it is the Pop Art-inspired graphic stripe top. This design is truly timeless and I love the geometric detail. To me, it feels somewhere in between a Hitchcock movie, an Andy Warhol painting and a mod girl in Quadrophenia, which is exactly where I think it should be.
