News In Our CityOVERDOSE PREVENTION TRAINING TO BE HELD AT LONG BEACH PUBLIC LIBRARY ON JUNE 12TH
On Tuesday, June 12, 2018, Nassau County will be hosting a lifes-saving program on how to recognize and reverse opiate overdoses, along with new addiction treatment options. In addition, kits containing the opiate overdose reversal agent Naloxone will be provided for free to attendees, along with training on how to administer it.
"Opioid addiction is a major problem, which knows no boundaries," said City Council President Anthony Eramo. "Sadly, Long Island has been greatly affected by this epidemic. With that in mind, the City has taken a proactive approach to this issue by ensuring our first responders received the necessary training to be prepared for potential life-threatening emergencies..."Read more... The City is pleased to announce that it has launched a department of veteran affairs with the goal of providing veterans and their dependents with information and access to the resources they need and deserve. An office will be open in City Hall on Wednesday afternoons from 1pm-4pm for veterans in Long Beach. Residents who visit the office will receive packets containing information concerning a number of issues, including PTSD, health care benefits, and advice. Heading up the department will be Vincent DiSalvo, a veteran of the Vietnam War and a 42-year resident of the City.Read more... LIRR Parking Permits On Sale June 11th

One of Long Beach's greatest traditions continues today when we pay tribute to our veterans with the City's annual Memorial Day Parade.
The parade begins this morning at Ohio Avenue and West Beech Street at 10:00am and ends at the reviewing stand on Park Avenue in front of City Hall. The American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars will be joined by city, county and state officials.
Additionally, City Hall, the Recreation Center, Ice Arena, Magnolia Senior Center & YFS Day Care Center are closed, and there will be no YFS Holiday Care or sanitation pickup. City of LB buses are operation on a holiday schedule.Read more... A Message from the City of Long Beach...
