Second Anniversary 5k Fun Run & 1k Wine Walk

Beginning Weaving

This two-day introduction to weaving is taught by resident weaver, Sharon Grist. Topics covered will include the mechanics of three different types of floor looms, the process of making a warp, dressing the loom, and many others. Students will weave a twill sample runner on which they will explore numerous treading variations on one basic threading sequence. No experience is necessary. Class fee includes instruction, use of studio equipment, all materials, and hand-outs (lunch NOT included).

12th Annual Mountain Fling

Junior Ranger Camps

Night at the Museums

4th of July Boat Parade on Lake Chatuge

Spend America's birthday in Hiawassee and watch the annual 4th of July Boat Parade on Lake Chatuge. Enjoy the rest of the day on this beautiful TVA lake. Boaters line up behind the Grand Marshal for the parade beginning at 10:30 a.m. at The Ridges Resort. No wake, and boats must fly a U.S. flag. Additional patriotic decorations are encouraged. Boats must have a number issued by the Grand Marshal to be considered for judging. Prizes are awarded for most creative, and most red, white and blue. Spectators can enjoy the parade from the Old Towns County Recreation Center, Anderson Bridge and the Georgia Mountain Fair Campgrounds. She designs and manufactures scarf pins, earrings, neckalces and bracelets made of gold, sterling, bronze, copper, melted bronze on copper, silver plate, and gemstones. In this class you will learn jewelry creation techniques such as cutting metal, filing, shaping, pounding and creating earrings, cuff bracelets, necklaces, and scarf pins. Len Foote Hike Inn Service Weekend

During the weekend of July 13-15, join the Georgia Conservancy for a two-night service trip to the amazing Hike Inn. Surrounded by the scenic beauty of the Chattahoochee National Forest, the Inn provides a truly unique experience. You will arrive at the inn on Friday after a moderate five-mile hike starting at Amicalola Falls State Park and traverse through the Southern Appalachian Mountains. On Saturday, guests will split up into small groups to begin service work that includes cleaning windows and dorm rooms, chopping wood, light building projects, clearing brush, hemlock tree inspection, trail restoration and invasive plant species removal. Rooms have one set of bunk beds. Sheets, pillows and blankets are provided. The shared bathhouse has showers, sinks, mirrors, electrical outlets and odor-free composting toilets. Grapes and Ghosts Wine Tour

Sightings of Civil War soldiers playing cards in Mount Hope Cemetery, a ghostly little girl in a long white dress who plays in a room in the Historic District, ghosts who rattle dishes in restaurants on the Public Square, and chairs and chess pieces being moved when no one was there. The stories go on and on and are corroborated by town residents.

Wine tours and pub crawls are about 1/2 mile long, and are indoors except when walking between stops. Allow 2 to 2 1/2 hours for tours. Drinks and tastings are purchased separately through the individual businesses. Adults only! ID required. - Adults. Tickets may be pre-purchased online, through Facebook by email or by calling. We are on sight for ticket purchase about 1-2 hours before tours. Tour stops include five stops at local tasting rooms and restaurants. Tours take place rain or shine.
